If you would have asked Dave Kertscher, of Eagle WI, 10 years ago what he thought he would be doing today, the answer would not have been owning and operating Dalee Water Conditioning, 126 North Jefferson Street, a locally owned company since 1947.

In fact, he was working in cardiac rehabilitation when the idea of him becoming the leader of the next generation of the family business first came about. “I thought, no way,” he said. “Then, I started studying it and just soaked it up.  I love the chemistry and problem solving it takes.”

In 1947, Orville Dalee, under the Culligan franchise, started the business.  Then, his son Rod Dalee took it over and now Rod’s son-in-law, Kertscher, is in the driver’s seat.  Recently, they went through big changes in name and company philosophy.

“In 2009, we traded the most recognized name in the business in, Culligan, for the best equipment in the business.” Kertscher said.  “Everything we now use is made in the U.S in fact, in Wisconsin.  And it’s not just assembled here, it’s made here. Our competitors’ equipment is made in Taiwan and China.”  “We’re able to offer solid Hellenbrand equipment, excellent service workers, good warranties and fair prices.”

While many businesses are struggling at the moment, Dalee Water is holding its own quite comfortably.  “I’m very grateful for that,” he said.  “Everyone needs clean drinking water.”

“Even municipality water isn’t always as clean as people think it is. You would be surprised. And those filters you can buy at the store—they really don’t do anything.  In some cases they may make the water look better or even taste a little better.  But real contaminants go right through.”

From small single-family customers to entire companies, Dalee Water can serve your needs.  Drinking water can be delivered in 5 gallon bottles or 10-16 ounce bottles. They also deliver softener salt and maintain equipment.
